I have been so bad at keeping up this summer... if I tried to put all the adventures in one post you would never have the stamina to read it all and might just give up on this blog completely. So in my genius, I will write four posts... this is the first and it is about the family stuffs this summer.
That about sums up my family time this summer... we have been far apart. :). But that is a bit dark.... so here is a better picture to make us all feel a bit better.
It was a very busy summer, but there were some sweet moments in the middle. I can't remember a summer where I have traveled more or been busier...
Nadia left in May and helped me realize how thankful I am for all that she does while she is here. She walked a long way and then came back the end of June. While she was gone I manned the FORT (ha ha ha... the actual name of our group now! Win!) and enjoyed some extra time out of the office and with my kids. I helped out with a conference for PBT called Discovery and put the finishing touches on our Jamaica trip planning... but enough about work... bleh... this is the family edition not the work-and-bore-me-to-death edition.
MK Graduation! Hard to say goodbye but... they can't stay either :). Nadia gave the charge and it was amazing!
Ice Cream Social fundraiser. There is still time to donate if you want :).
First family pic... two pics in :)... we went to the zoo!
My sister is amazing at teaching art to my children (and many others) and here they are at the art show!
Annual mother's day hike... this year it rained! You know, that thing no one remembers in Texas.
An MK summer tradition! Go to Sonic after MK and get shakes!
I took my mom out for her birthday and Mother's day... it was delicious!
My son is wearing a dress now. No, not really. Confirmation for Asher! Yay! Nice robe :).
End of year party at Connie's! It was epic!
Awesome dad taking the kids on an adventure to get snow cones! With the giant dogs...
We played so many games... here we are playing UNO... but I taught them Scum this summer and it has become a favorite.
Aidan's graduation party. On the way I got my car down to 1 mile until empty. Yeah, I make the most of my gas in my tank.
Asher's birthday and Memorial day!
Making my yard beautiful with my slaves... kids, I mean...
Across the Spider Verse at the drive in!
Shrep... I just ep... not much for the shr part :)
MK hike! So fun! Did this during Discovery... the coming together of two worlds.
My child laborers! I love working with them! Such good helpers!
Got away for a weekend with Diane and our friends Sean and Jordan! We went to Shiner Texas... it was grand!
Aidan giving one more excellent message before he leaves MK for college.
I finally redid my deck - the ancient deck that my late uncle David put it. Joel, Sean and my boys helped me... I guess we all helped Joel put in this beauty!
We went to Ally Cats for a fun event... the last event before Jamaica.
Now you can take a breather and go read the Jamaica Post if you want... maybe a day or two breather... but then come back here for more proof... I mean stories, of my epic family summer!
I was home for barely a week before I had to leave again for Thailand... but I tried to fill it with lots of fun memories. First off we went to go pick blueberries. I'm more of a sit and eat blueberry things while others pick them kind of guy... but that is neither here nor there :) Then we went to the lake and put a wonderful bow on a wonderful day!
One of my favorite pictures with Bella. We had a sweet time of devotions together one morning and I'm so grateful I captured it! I love being with my kids while they pursue God!
All of us at the 4th of July parade! Yay! Good times for sure!
Okay that takes us up to Thailand... now go and read all about Thailand... Okay... nice right?! Now you may proceed.
I got back on Saturday morning and Sunday was a huge day! We went to Diane's Aunt Charlotte's sweet 16... and then to my cousin Julie's wedding! I have no good pictures of the wedding... just me looking down and judging you :).
Ah yes... the inevitable school... it comes for us all! Unless of course you are done with school... then it comes for your kids :). We went to many of the school registration blah blah blah... here we got some hair extensions for the girls and some vaccines for them too... quite the combo!
My first FORT back we did an awesome community Monday where Jeremy led us through some great games. We are in our Fall schedule now and getting closer and closer to our Labor day Camp. Nadia and I are co teaching for that awesome camp! First time ever to co teach... I'm very excited. We are refurbishing an old teaching of mine that was one of her favorites.
We had a full garage gym this summer! One day everybody was there working out and it was awesome to see! I need to start selling memberships :).
I love to eat Asian food the day before I go to Asia... unfortunately this was two days before. Any way, my kids and wife love sushi! I think it is just ok... but it was super awesome going and getting this time with them. We went home, got ice cream, and watched Crocodile Dundee for the first time with them... the next evening we watched the second one. That was so fun! Even Diane had never seen these classics... "that is not a knife... this is a knife"
Now the sad pictures that have led up to where I am now... sitting in a hotel in Myanmar and thinking about my awesome family and friends and looking forward to getting back home soon. So many other fun things happened this summer... but don't be creepy, you don't need to know that much about my life :). I'm grateful for a Jesus who calls us on adventures... sometimes they lead us away from the ones we love, but they have always led me back eventually. God is advancing His kingdom and I'm so thankful to be a part of it! Thank you for being a part of it through your faithful support of the ministry God has called us to be a part of! I couldn't do this without you. I hope you do read about Jamaica and Thailand and see that what God is doing is worth the things that it costs his servants. Grateful that my time away is only in weeks and not much much more. I'm eager to be back but looking forward to finishing my time up here strong! Your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
I teared up a little looking at these precious pictures! Love you family and I'm so thankful for you my awesome friends and supporters. Keep praying for us!
Blessings,
Caleb
